I’m excited to share another pearl from the The Hue graphic novel that Wayne Haag is slowly drawing for me.
As you know, I’m blessed to have amazing artist WAYNE HAAG drawing a graphic novel bases on the series for you to enjoy. You’ve already seen the cover – but here’s a sneak peek at some of the internals as well. The graphic novel entitled The Hue will be available when Wayne’s finished. I’ll keep you posted!
The beautiful sketch you saw the other day features Mira Fedor, Insignia (the organic ship) and Wanton. It portrays a very dramatic scene from Mirror Space where Mira escapes from captivity and is rescued by Insignia. As you can see Mira is pregnant – so she is protecting her baby as well as herself.
Now I get to share the first colour look. This is still the rough version but I’m staggered at how close the likeness is to my own imagination of the three. Wayne and I have talked a little about Mira and Wanton but his interpretation of Insignia is wholly his own and quite spot on.
The series will be available later this month. I’ll let you know as soon as I do! If you haven’t read it then you can check out many of the reviews here. I’m very proud of these books they pushed me and changed me.
Here’s my review favourite quote of all:
“The Sentients of Orion is a complex, highly textured and riveting space opera. It’s set across an entire galaxy populated by ‘humanesques’ and other, more alien beings; the action veers from intense family drama to planet-wrecking destruction. It considers genetic engineering, religion, politics, personal responsibility and the different forms love can take. It’s both character and plot-driven, and the conclusion totally astounded me. This is a series that has changed my way of thinking about space opera, and the characters that populate it.” Asif.
Now to have Wayne Haag illustrating a boutique graphic novel of the series is kind of a dream come true. I’m honoured to be collaborating with such a great SF talent.
I’m very excited to sneak preview this for you. The amazing Wayne Haag (aka Ankaris)is drawing a boutique graphic novel for the Sentients of Orion US release. It will be available free, electronically, for all fans of the series and will centre around a pivotal and dramatic scene in Mirror Space where Mira escapes. I’ve seen the roughs and you are going to love it!
There will be a press release and dedicated web page for it when it’s ready to go but I couldn’t help but share this early pencil of the cover. Excited!!!!!
It’s been a while since I announced the release of Sentients of Orion in e-book form in the US. Things went quiet then because it’s taken me months to organise some admin stuff to do with the release. Finally that’s completed, so I hope to have a release date for you soon.
I’m also very excited to whisper that Wayne Haag (the amazing artist ANKARIS) and I will be doing some work together on the Sentients series release in the USA and maybe other projects in time. Details to come!
For those of you who have supported Sentients during its release in the the Commonwealth (particularly my then editor, Darren Nash), I thank you from the bottom of my heart. As some of you know, I wept blood over this series. I’m so happy to think it will get a wider release. If the ebook sales go alright, then it may be available POD.
So when the time comes, I will ask you to spread word for me.
love
